Since 2004, UMBC has hosted Project Lead the Way training program, directed by Dr. Anne Spence, a Mechanical Engineering Professor and co-Director of the ME S-STEM Scholarship Program at UMBC. This program has offered a large variety of engineering and technology courses to middle school and high school teachers in Maryland and prepared those teachers to deliver pre-engineering curriculum in the middle and high school classroom. The ME S-STEM scholarship Program has been promoted to the teachers who have served as a bridge between students in high school and UMBC's strong engineering programs.
